Yenta, Wonder Dog of the Internet. Official Schnauzer of the WWW
Yenta, Jan 1 2009
Yenta enjoying a bone, January 1, 2009
We must saddly announce that Yenta was put to sleep on May 21, 2009. She had a great life for a Giant Schnauzer, living over 14 years and 3 months, when the average lifespan is about 10 years.
She began to have hip problems at her advanced age and sadly declined until she was unable to walk. Her front paws became unable to hold any weight, probably as a result of her breaking a front ankle 3 years ago. While we knew that she was in pain, her kind and gentle spirit remained bright until the end. We will miss her, but we are relieved that she is no longer in any pain.

Schnauzers unite!
Welcome to the official® Yenta,
the wonder dog page on the web.

About Yenta!
Yenta is a female Giant Schnauzer. An uncommon breed, Giant Schnauzers are playful dogs who love their families, are great with kids and make excellent watchdogs. Yenta is 13 years old now and stopped growing at 95 lbs. She's about 26" at her shoulders, and pulls like a pony when you take her for a walk. She loves nothing better than being used as a pillow.

But wait... Yenta was not our only Schnauzer!

Lady, the ultimate watch dog

Our other Schnauzer's name was Lady. A female Miniature Schnauzer, who only weighed about 12 pounds, and was the ultimate watch dog. (not just because she was small enough to put in your pocket!). She loved her family, and would do tricks, which is unusual for Schnauzers. For the price of one dog cookie, she'd fall down and roll over when you point your finger and say "BANG". Dogs will do anything for a cookie. In February of 2001 at 13 years old, she moved into doggy heaven. She fought the good fight, but the glaucoma was too much for her. She's sadly missed.

Schnauzers only lead, never follow.

Pixel, the cat who used to let us all live with him.
Pixel passed on at 14 years of age on July 6, 2007
Pixel refused to have a web page.
He felt it's very silly, or as he put it, "canine".
Pixel had his own computer, and if not watched
will try to e-mail our dogs around the world.
He felt the technology was within his grasp.
If you don't believe him, try this link:
IBM Research - Quantum Teleportation
(take a look at the Goulash recipe at the bottom of that page)
Named after the title character in the
Heinlien book, he spent his days faxing and printing.

This is Stan. He's the one who first made this page, a long, long time ago. Things have changed quite a bit in the last 12 years since this was first done, (Stan's got much more grey hair & the IIcx is long gone) and we've updated the dates but left the rest alone. It's kind of an internet antique now, but we've left it here because it still gets quite a few hits and Yenta likes the mail. Please send Yenta a letter. Just click!
